About the pousada
Casa Florence has a very special kind of energy, the kind you feel the moment you walk in. It is not just the warm welcome, the splashes of tropical colour everywhere, or the fabulous views of Flamengo football training ground, Pedra da Gavea, Dois Irmãos, Lagoa and Cristo, there is just something about the place that makes you want to stay here. And people who come here once, come back, again and again.
A penthouse apartment with only two suites, this is the Brazilian version of a pop-up B&B rather than a more normal pousada. It doubles as the HQ of Hidden Pousadas Brazil and is only available when Alison is in Rio and not off checking out new pousadas. Once here you'll find the atmosphere is very informal. There is free access to kitchen with honesty bar, plus free wi-fi and use of the rooftop jacuzzi with spectacular view. Check-in super early or check-out very late at no extra charge and enjoy a caipirinha whilst picking up all the local information on what to do and where to go in the country, and particularly all the best music to see in Rio. If you know Brazil or if it's your first time and you want a Carioca/British experience you couldn't find a better place to start or finish your trip.
About the location
Leblon is less well known in the outside world than nearby Ipanema, but it is widely acknowledged as the best area of Rio, and Casa Florence is situated right in the heart of it. For sun-worshippers and exercisers it's just a short walk to the beach in one direction, and the lake in the other. For those who prefer nightlife there are a huge number of bars and restaurants to choose from. And for those who just like staying in, what could be better than a caipirinha in the rooftop jacuzzi at sunset, overlooking the lake and the mountains? Fabulous!
