Booking Conditions for bookings with Hidden Pousadas Brazil
In the following booking conditions Hidden Pousadas Brazil “HPB” arranges bookings as an agent of bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, inns, eco-lodges, small hotels and pousadas in Brazil, "P". In this document “You/Your” refers to the lead traveller on the booking form. The “Site” refers to the website www.hiddenpousadasbrazil.com.
Please note : If You book direct with pousada, rather than with Hidden Pousadas, You use this option entirely at Your own risk. HPB cannot be held responsible for any problem which arises between You and the Pousada, and cannot be called upon to arbitrate in the case of any dispute.
1) Lead traveller responsibility
All bookings with HPB are subject to availability and you must be at least 18 years at the time of booking. In making this booking You confirm that you are so authorized, and You agree to these booking conditions on behalf of all other travellers on Your booking form. You are responsible for making all payments due to HPB.
2) Confirmations
On receipt of Your booking we will contact the pousada to confirm availability and price and will inform You accordingly. Subject to Your agreement by email, we will send provisional confirmation by email, showing the deposit due, and the date when the balance becomes payable (8 weeks before arrival at the first Pousada). The provisional booking will normally only be held for 48 hours, and will only be confirmed on receipt of Your deposit. Your binding contract comes into existence when this confirmation is issued. A Voucher/Vouchers for the Pousada(s) will be sent on receipt of the balance, or the total value, if less than 8 weeks before arrival.
3) Payments
You may pay for Pousadas by credit card via PayPal, or by bank transfer into the HPB UK bank account. All payments must be made in £ sterling, and the preferred method of payment must be indicated at the time of booking on the booking form. Payments by bank transfer attract a 4% discount. If paying by credit card/PayPal, HPB will require details of a valid email address to request payment.
If any payment due in relation to your booking is not paid by the appropriate date, HPB is entitled to assume that you wish to cancel your booking. However, HPB will normally send You a reminder before Your booking is actually cancelled.
4) Prices
The Price Guide on the site is purely to give You an idea of the cost of a standard double room, including breakfast, in low season, maximum 2 people sharing. Low season is normally March 15 to July 15 and August 15 th to December 15 th. However this varies in different parts of Brazil. In some places prices only change during long holiday weekends, Christmas, Easter and Carnival, when it is normal for Pousadas only to offer 4 or 5 day package deals.
All prices quoted to You will be confirmed first with the Pousada and will include all related charges, such as service charges and local tourist taxes. HPB reserves the right to increase the cost of the balance payable in £ if the R$ to £ rate changes more than 10% between payment of deposit and payment of the balance.
Please note : the Price Guide is updated weekly for US$ and Euros; for the purposes of R$ reais)/£ sterling calculations, HPB uses mid-market rates quoted on XE.com.
5) Pousada details on the Site
HPB aims to ensure that all information given on the Site is up to date and accurate, and that services and facilities are as described. However for many reasons, outside the control of HPB, and often outside the control of Pousada owners, things may not work perfectly, or as expected. Where this is the case, the Pousada management can be expected to do everything possible to retrieve the situation, and HPB can be relied upon to offer support/solutions. However HPB can accept no liability for any inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information about Pousadas. Nor can HPB be held liable for any changes/restrictions to Pousada services and facilities, except where any such change or restriction has arisen out of the negligence of HPB.
6) Liability
HPB shall have no liability for any death or personal injury, unless this results from the negligence of HPB. Similarly You must take all necessary steps to safeguard your personal property as neither HPB nor the Pousada concerned can accept liability for loss or damage to such items. You are strongly advised to take out travel insurance in advance of Your trip.
7) “Force Majeure”
Except where otherwise expressly stated in these Booking Conditions, HPB regrets that it cannot accept liability, or pay any compensation, where the performance of the obligations under Your contract, or the provision of services by the Pousada, is affected by “force majeure” In these Booking Conditions “force majeure” means an event beyond the reasonable control of HPB or the Pousada(s) booked, for example, strikes, labour disputes, riot, civil unrest, fire, flood or storm.
8) Changes
If, after you confirm your booking, You wish to change any detail of your booking, HPB will do its best to make the changes, provided that You provide notification in writing by email. Any changes are subject to an admistration fee of £20.00 for each change made up to 8 weeks before travel. Any later changes are subject to an administration fee of £40.00 for each change agreed.

Please note:
-Where cancellations are partial, cancellation charges will only apply to the part being cancelled, and will not affect the other part of the booking.
-Where bookings are made for special packages e.g. over Carnival/ New year, cancellation charges are different, as Pousadas will generally not give HPB, and therefore You, any reimbursement for cancellations made less than eight weeks before arrival date. You are strongly advised to take out travel insurance to cover this eventuality.
10) Complaints
In the unlikely event that You have any reason to complain either to HPB or about any of the Pousadas featured on the Site, please let us know as soon as possible in writing and we will try to resolve the situation as soon as possible. All HPB Pousadas are personally visited and selected on the basis of comfort, quality, personality and value for money. We welcome any comments and suggestions for improvements in relation to Pousadas and/or service from Hidden Pousadas Brazil.
