Pousadas in Angra dos Reis
Once a vibrant colonial town Angra dos Reis is now principally known as a gateway to Ilha Grande and Ilha da Gipoiá. Any vestiges of its former glory are hidden behind the favelas which climb inexorably up the mountains behind. The 2 main churches still worth a visit are Nossa Senhora do Carmo which dates back to 1593 and Nossa Senhora da Conceição built in1626. Otherwise just take it as it is - a laid back port for boat trips out across and around the bay.
