Maceió is the capital city of Alagoas and you could be forgiven for thinking that Pontal de Maceió would be in the same state at least. It isn’t! It’s a tiny unspoilt fishing village just past Fortim in the southeast of Ceará state!
Getting here is simple so long as you are not trying to do it by public transport. Basically there isn’t any. You might get as far as Fortim by local bus but you’d still have to get a taxi for the part from here to Pontal de Maceió itself unless you are prepared to walk a long way with your bags!
Transport options from Fortaleza for those with less time…
By taxi transfer
This is equally easy and gives more flexibility. Just take the main BR 040 driving south from Fortaleza and turn left when you see the signs to Fortim. When you get near the beach you’ll come to the well signposted Hotel Pausa on the left and a bit further on the Hotel Vila Selvagem, right on the main beach of Pontal de Maceió.
Note: If you continue south on the BR060 past the turn off to Fortim you’ll come to the turn off for Aracati and Canoa Quebrada, and the latter is worth a visit if you feel an urgent need to see people (!) or try different restaurants. There isn’t any action or nightlife in Pontal de Maceió itself! Just pure tranquility and a lot of fresh fish!
