Hidden Pousadas Brazil evolved out of a passion for travelling and exploring Brazil off the beaten track. As I began stumbling across more and more uniquely beautiful inns, eco-lodges, guesthouses, b&bs and boutique hotels on my travels, I knew I had to share these hidden gems with other like-minded travellers, so they could also experience the beauty of Brazil away from mass tourism.
Pousada literally means 'place to stay' and there are thousands all over Brazil, ranging from the very simple to the extremely sophisticated and luxurious.
With so many to choose from, we seek out the very best- the ones which meet our criteria of comfort, quality, personal service, charm, value for money and responsible tourism. All of the ‘highly recommended’ and ‘recommended’ pousadas you will find here on Hidden Pousadas Brazil are places we have handpicked and personally visited, reviewed and photographed so you know you can both trust them and ask me anything about them. Alison is a travel writer and marketing professional with a particular interest in Brazilian history, culture and music. Responsible for researching and personally reviewing every pousada in the highly recommended special collection she is the guiding force behind the guide, and the person to talk to for any advice on where and when to go to Brazil.
Fola is a PR and communications expert based in London, with a shared passion for Brazil, culture, dance, travel writing and all things uniquely beautiful. She is responsible for communication of all Hidden Pousadas Brazil news and for spreading the word about all the wonderful places to stay on offer to travellers to Brazil.
Rosane is the power behind the throne- the person who ensures the office runs smoothly and manages all Alison's travel plans and visits to pousadas. Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese with a background in PR, Rosane brings efficiency, professionalism and an easy going good humour to the Hidden Pousadas team.
Angela is a photographer and individual travel consultant. Based in Spain she shares a passion and enthusiasm for Brazil and has been involved in the Hidden Pousadas project since the beginning. She has joined Alison on many of her expeditions using her life long knowledge of the travel business to make valuable contributions to the Hidden Pousadas Brazil experience.
